The Jawanna Dean Foundation

Rooted in Service.

For decades, I, Jawanna Dean, have served the Metro Detroit community, standing alongside organizations that restore hope and create opportunity.

Built on Love.

From neighborhood revitalization to mentoring youth, my heart has always been centered on giving back.

✨ My Story

Service is the thread that runs through everything I do. I have volunteered countless hours across Detroit with organizations committed to education, housing, and community development.

With Life Remodeled, I helped transform the former Durfee Middle School into an Innovation Center and small business hub, giving the community new life.

Beyond these initiatives, I’ve supported Gleaners Food Bank, Southwest Housing Solutions, Feed the Children, and the Magic Johnson Foundation .

I have also partnered with engineers from General Motors to bring hands-on learning experiences to students at Ralph Waldo Emerson Schools, utilizing SAE International’s Jet Toy AWIM (A World in Motion) program.

Together, we introduced children to (STEAM) in ways that spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

MISSION

To ensure every human being has immediate access to safe, stable housing, dignified care, and a clear path to educational, emotional, and economic stability.

We focus on providing secure housing solutions for human beings in crisis — meeting urgent needs today while building durable futures tomorrow.

🏡 About the Foundation

At the heart of our mission is one simple truth: housing is the foundation for human dignity and opportunity.

Without a safe place to call home, every other step toward healing and stability becomes harder.

That’s why we center our work on housing as the starting point for change.

Our work has always been about restoring hope and building strong communities.

Housing is not just shelter — it is stability, safety, and the first building block of independence.

Through this foundation, we are committed to making sure no survivor or child is left without a place to belong and the tools to thrive.
